Disable Auto-Update Emails

Disable automatic update notification emails sent by WordPress after core, plugin, or theme updates

Overview

Disable Auto-Update Emails stops WordPress from sending email notifications after automatic updates run. When WordPress updates itself, a plugin, or a theme automatically, it normally emails the site admin. This module lets you turn off those emails for core, plugins, themes, or all of them. Updates still run—you just won’t get an email for each one. You’ll still see update notices in the WordPress admin.

Who is this for?
Site owners who receive too many update emails, or those who monitor updates through the admin and don't need email notifications.

Features

Disable All or Individually
Turn off all update emails at once, or choose: core only, plugins only, themes only.
Core Update Emails
Stop emails when WordPress core updates automatically.
Plugin Update Emails
Stop emails when plugins update automatically.
Theme Update Emails
Stop emails when themes update automatically.
Updates Still Run
This only disables notification emails. Automatic updates continue if enabled. Manual update notices in the admin are unchanged.

How It Works

1
Enable the Module
Go to WP PowerSuite, find "Disable Auto-Update Emails," and click the Enable button.
2
Configure Settings
Open the module settings. Check "Disable All Update Emails" or choose individually: core, plugins, themes.
3
Save
Settings save automatically. The next time WordPress runs an automatic update, the corresponding email will not be sent.
Performance Note
Minimal. Uses WordPress filters to disable the email send. No extra database queries or background processes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Troubleshooting

  • I still receive update emails
Ensure the module is enabled and you saved the settings. Check that you selected the right type (core, plugins, and/or themes). Some hosts may send their own update notifications—this module only affects WordPress's built-in emails.
