Overview

Media Library Infinite Scroll restores WordPress’s built-in infinite-scrolling behavior in the Media Library grid and media-selection modal.

Instead of stopping after the initial batch and requiring a separate load action, WordPress automatically requests the next set of media items as an authorized user approaches the bottom of the library. The module uses WordPress core behavior rather than shipping its own replacement browser or custom JavaScript.

Browse Large Media Libraries With Less Interruption

  • Large WordPress sites can accumulate thousands of images, documents, and other attachments. When an editor is searching visually for an existing image, stopping repeatedly to request another page or batch can make the Media Library feel slower than the task itself requires.
  • Media Library Infinite Scroll changes that browsing experience by turning on WordPress's own continuous loading behavior. As the user approaches the bottom of the currently loaded items, WordPress fetches the next batch and appends it to the grid. Scrolling can continue until the available library has been exhausted.

Use the Native WordPress Media Browser

  • The module deliberately does not create a proprietary media-management screen. It simply returns the value WordPress expects for its built-in infinite-scrolling capability, allowing core to control loading, rendering, selection, and the 80-item batch size.
  • This matters for compatibility because the Media Library continues to be the normal WordPress Media Library. Themes, plugins, editors, and media-selection dialogs are not being redirected into another custom file manager just to get a smoother browsing experience.

Improve Media Selection Inside WordPress Workflows

  • The same media browser appears in many WordPress tasks. Editors may open it while inserting an image into a post, selecting a featured image, choosing a logo, configuring a gallery, or attaching media through another plugin.

Rather than changing how media is stored or queried elsewhere, the module improves the browsing experience where WordPress already uses its media grid.

Keep the Feature Lightweight

  • There are no custom scripts, batch-size controls, background jobs, or frontend assets associated with the module. If the current user does not have permission to upload media, WP PowerSuite leaves the incoming WordPress behavior unchanged.
  • The module also runs only in the WordPress administration environment. Visitors to the public site receive no additional script or request as a result of enabling Media Library Infinite Scroll.

Understand What Infinite Scroll Does Not Change

Infinite scrolling affects the Media Library grid experience, not every media query in WordPress. List mode on upload.php continues using its normal pagination, and REST API queries elsewhere do not receive a larger per_page value.
