Database Cleanup
Overview
Over time, a WordPress database can collect revisions, drafts, expired transients, spam comments, orphaned metadata, leftover plugin data, and other records that are no longer useful. Finding what can safely be removed becomes increasingly difficult as a site grows.
Database Cleanup gives you a dedicated workspace to scan, review, and clean WordPress database bloat. It goes beyond basic cleanup by identifying ownership across plugins, themes, and WordPress itself, while protecting core data, installed-plugin tables, builder content, templates, and other important records.
Database Cleanup is available as a Pro module in WP PowerSuite.

Frequently Asked Questions
What can Database Cleanup remove?
It can clean revisions, auto-drafts, old drafts, trashed content, comments, expired transients, orphaned and duplicate metadata, orphaned relationships, selected Action Scheduler data, expired WooCommerce sessions, and other supported database records.
Does it automatically delete everything it finds?
No. A scan identifies cleanup opportunities first. Manual cleanup lets you choose tasks, and they are categorized as Safe, Review, or Advanced depending on the type of operation
How does WP PowerSuite know what belongs to a plugin?
The module uses ownership detection to associate tables, options, metadata, transients, and cron data with WordPress core, plugins, and themes. Ownership can also be reviewed and manually overridden when needed.
Can it delete plugin database tables?
Only tables identified as leftovers from plugins that are no longer installed can be offered for orphan-table deletion. Core tables and tables belonging to installed plugins are protected.
Can it clean WooCommerce data?
Yes. When the relevant data exists, the module can clean expired WooCommerce sessions and supported Action Scheduler records.
Can I optimize database tables?
Yes. Advanced maintenance can provide OPTIMIZE and REPAIR operations for supported core tables when you explicitly enable those features.
Can Database Cleanup run automatically?
Yes. You can schedule cleanup hourly, twice daily, daily, weekly, or monthly.
Can Advanced tasks run automatically?
No. Scheduled cleanup is intentionally limited to Safe tasks. Review and Advanced operations require manual attention.
Does it clean the entire network on WordPress Multisite?
No. Database cleanup is scoped to the current site. Be particularly careful with user metadata because user-meta changes can apply across the network.
Does Database Cleanup create a backup before deleting data?
No. Database Cleanup is not a backup or restore system. You should maintain a recent backup before significant database maintenance. If WP PowerSuite Backup & Restore is enabled, the module can link you directly to it.
Is Database Cleanup free?
No. Database Cleanup is a Pro module and requires an active WP PowerSuite license.
