Summarize with AI:

AI Summarize

Add a “Summarize with AI” shortcode that opens ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, or Grok with a safe page-URL prompt—no API keys or on-site AI calls.

Overview

Give readers a convenient way to explore your published content with their preferred AI service. AI Summarize adds a set of buttons that opens an external AI conversation with a prompt asking the service to read the current page, summarize it, and identify its key points. Visitors choose the provider; your WordPress site supplies the page URL rather than generating or displaying the summary itself.

Choose from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode through the Gemini option, Claude, Perplexity, and Grok. Customize the buttons, place them with a shortcode, and keep sensitive pages out of the sharing workflow. AI Summarize is a Pro module that requires an active WP PowerSuite license, but it does not require an AI API key or make on-site AI generation calls.

Who is this for?
  • Publishers offering another way to explore detailed articles
  • Documentation sites whose readers already use external AI tools
  • Agencies adding optional AI-assisted reading without API integration
  • Content teams that want control over provider choice and button placement

Features

Five Provider Choices
Offer ChatGPT, the Gemini option using Google AI Mode, Claude, Perplexity, and Grok. Enable the providers you want and arrange their order.
No AI API Configuration
Launch a prepared conversation through the selected provider's website. WordPress does not submit page HTML to an AI generation API.
Shortcode Placement
Use [wpps_ai_summarize] to add the buttons to supported public content, with overrides for provider selection, title, alignment, size, and display.
Cleaner Shared URLs
Remove tracking and sensitive query parameters by default while keeping parameters needed to identify the page.
Sensitive-Page Exclusions
Keep the buttons off drafts, previews, password-protected posts, login screens, and WooCommerce account, cart, checkout, and order endpoints.
Flexible Button Design
Choose icons, labels, or both; adjust shape, size, alignment, heading, and whether the destination opens in a new tab.
Copy-Prompt Support
Optionally copy the prepared prompt before opening the provider. A manual-copy dialog is available when browser clipboard access is blocked.

Add an AI Reading Option Without Hosting an AI Assistant

Long articles often answer several different questions, and readers may want a brief outline before exploring the detail. AI Summarize provides an optional route into that workflow without adding a chat assistant inside WordPress. A reader chooses a provider and receives a prepared prompt that asks for a summary and key points from the page. Any conversation, generated answer, or follow-up then takes place in the external service rather than on your website.
That distinction keeps the feature straightforward to operate. You are not configuring a model, buying a WordPress AI-credit package, or storing an on-site library of generated summaries. You provide a convenient starting point for readers who already prefer that style of exploration. The module does not guarantee that the external provider will be able to retrieve a particular page or produce an accurate answer, so the original article remains the authoritative content you publish.

Let Readers Choose Their Preferred Provider

Different audiences use different AI tools, so the module does not force a single destination. All five provider options are enabled by default, and you can remove unnecessary buttons or drag the remaining ones into a more useful order. The Gemini-labeled option launches Google AI Mode in Search, rather than promising a conversation inside the standalone Gemini application. The other options open their corresponding supported service destinations.
You can also narrow the provider selection for an individual shortcode instance. For example, an article can offer only ChatGPT and Claude without changing every button group elsewhere on the website. Provider launch and prefill behavior still depend on the external service. If that service changes its URL format, the launch behavior may need updating; the optional copied prompt gives readers a separate way to take the prepared request into their chosen tool.

Share a Page URL Rather Than Its Saved HTML

AI Summarize uses the canonical permalink, or the current public view when appropriate, to identify the content. It does not collect the page's saved HTML and send that content to a model API. Instead, the URL is included in a prompt asking the selected service to read the page and summarize what it finds. This is materially different from uploading private WordPress content to an AI processor or generating an answer inside your own frontend.
By default, the shared address is cleaned of tracking and sensitive parameters such as campaign tags, tokens, nonces, preview information, and order-related values. Parameters needed to identify WordPress content are retained. This reduces unnecessary information in the prepared link, but it does not make a public page private or control the external service's handling of the conversation. The feature is intended for content you have deliberately made available to readers.

Keep Private and Account Pages Out of the Workflow

A summary button belongs on an article or public resource, not on a checkout, account screen, or unfinished draft. WP PowerSuite prevents the module from rendering in the listed sensitive contexts, including login and signup screens, WooCommerce account and order flows, previews, unpublished content, and password-protected posts. These exclusions are part of the module's behavior rather than relying on an editor to remember to remove the shortcode every time content changes status.
Additional visibility settings let you hide the buttons from logged-in or logged-out visitors when your publishing workflow requires it. These options control the availability of the sharing interface, not access to the underlying article. Developers can extend the sensitive-context and rendering checks for custom implementations, but the module should not be presented as a way to summarize protected content or bypass another site's access requirements.

Fit the Buttons Into Your Article Layout

The shortcode gives you an explicit placement point instead of automatically attaching a large AI interface to every page. You can use a heading such as “Summarize with AI,” select icon-only or labeled buttons, and choose a left, center, or right alignment. Rounded, square, and circular shapes provide additional flexibility, while shortcode overrides allow a particular placement to differ from your usual configuration.
The module's styles and scripts are prepared for supported singular posts containing the shortcode, so its normal workflow is centered on individual pieces of content. The manual-copy dialog also uses paragraph text for its title instead of adding article headings. That prevents its interface copy from becoming an unintended entry in tools such as Auto Table of Contents, which build navigation from headings in the page.

Offer Summaries Alongside On-Page Reading Tools

An external AI summary is one way to explore an article, not a replacement for well-organized content on your own site. Reading Time Calculator can tell visitors how much text they are about to read, while an on-page table of contents helps them jump directly to a relevant section. AI Summarize adds a separate option for readers who want to take the public URL into an AI conversation.
These tools can coexist without claiming that a button generates better rankings or automatically improves the article itself. Your headings, explanations, examples, and editorial accuracy remain the substance of the page. The practical benefit is choice: readers can stay on the site and navigate normally, or deliberately move to an external tool with a ready-made prompt. Nothing is summarized simply because the module is enabled or a visitor opens the page.

Use Cases

  • Long-Form Articles
Give readers a prepared starting point for requesting a summary of a detailed public article.
  • Documentation and Tutorials
Let readers take a public guide into their chosen AI service for key points and follow-up questions.
  • Provider-Specific Audiences
Limit the button group to the AI destinations relevant to your community or publication.
  • API-Free Publishing Workflows
Add an external AI reading option without maintaining model credentials or running generation on WordPress.
