Discourage Drag-Off Actions Without Changing Your Content

• Dragging an image or a piece of text away from a webpage is one of the simplest ways a visitor can attempt to reuse what is on screen. A portfolio or editorial site may want to discourage that casual interaction while still displaying the work publicly. Disable Drag and Drop provides a focused frontend rule for this situation, rather than requiring a developer to add and maintain separate event-handling code in the theme.
• The module changes the interaction, not the underlying publication model. It does not replace images with protected copies, remove text from the page source, or make a public file private. That makes it appropriate when the desired result is a gentle deterrent and a visible policy reminder. When material must not be available to an unauthorized visitor at all, a frontend drag restriction is not the control that can enforce that requirement.

Choose a Public or Role-Specific Policy

• A designer reviewing a site may need normal dragging behavior while a public visitor receives the restriction. The module separates these audiences instead of automatically applying one setting to everyone. Visitor coverage is on by default, and logged-in accounts are affected only when one of their WordPress roles is selected. You can therefore use the module for public visitors alone or include particular account groups when the project calls for it.
• This also makes the behavior easier to explain during handover. An editor is not automatically exempt merely because they are staff; their frontend experience depends on whether their role is included. Leave roles unselected when those users need unrestricted review. If visitor coverage is off and no roles are selected, there is no active audience and the interaction hooks do not run.

Explain the Restriction Without Interrupting the Page

• A drag action that appears to fail silently can be confusing. WP PowerSuite's shared notification system lets you provide a message that explains the intended behavior instead. A brief statement about the site's reuse policy can make the restriction feel deliberate rather than like an image or browser problem. The default wording is “This function is disabled,” and the text can be customized.
• The notice is temporary, with a default duration of 3,000 milliseconds and top-right placement. Top or bottom positions with left, center, or right alignment give you flexibility over where it appears. Keep the wording focused on the actual interaction being discouraged. The message is an explanation, not an access-permission check or evidence that the displayed content cannot be obtained another way.

Leave Dashboard Editing Outside the Restriction

• WordPress uses drag interactions in many administrative workflows, so it matters where this module runs. Disable Drag and Drop is limited to browsable frontend HTML and does not apply in wp-admin. The module also leaves REST responses, feeds, and cron outside its content-protection scope, rather than attempting to turn every WordPress output into a controlled viewing environment.
• Frontend tools still deserve testing when they rely on legitimate dragging. A custom interface viewed outside wp-admin should not be assumed exempt, particularly when the current user's role is included in the audience. Review the actual page interactions you need to preserve before applying the rule broadly. Audience-specific output also needs an appropriate cache configuration; the module does not protect against another role's cached HTML being served to the wrong viewer.
