Frequently Asked Questions
Does this work with custom post types?
Yes. All public post types appear in the Post Types tab. Select the one you want and customize its columns.
Can I add columns from custom fields?
Yes. Use Add Column, choose Custom Field, and enter the meta key. You can browse available fields or type the key manually. Select how the value should be displayed (text, number, date, image, etc.).
Can I sort by custom columns?
Yes. When adding or editing a column, enable the Sorting option. The column header becomes clickable to sort ascending or descending.
What happens if I reset all columns?
All your column customizations for every screen are removed. You’ll need to reconfigure from scratch. Use with caution.
Where is the Manage Columns button?
On each list screen (Posts, Users, Media, etc.), a “Manage Columns” link appears in the top area. Click it to open the Admin Columns settings for that screen.
Troubleshooting
- Columns don't appear after savingMake sure you clicked Save Changes. Refresh the list screen. Check that the module is enabled and you have a valid license.
- Custom field column shows nothingVerify the meta key is correct. Some plugins store data differently. Use Browse Fields to see available keys. Check that the field type (text, number, date, etc.) matches your data.
- Sorting doesn't work on a columnNot all column types support sorting. Ensure Sorting is enabled in the column settings. Some custom field types may not sort correctly.
- Manage Columns button is missingThe button appears only on list screens (edit.php, users.php, upload.php, etc.). Ensure the module is enabled and you have manage_options permission.
- Column order resets or changesEach screen has its own settings. If you restored defaults or reset all, your changes were cleared. Reconfigure and save again.
