Overview

Image Sizes Panel shows the image files WordPress has actually generated for an attachment, including each available size’s label, dimensions, and URL.

Access the information from the attachment edit screen or Media Library list mode and copy a generated image URL with one click. The module is especially useful when debugging thumbnail generation, checking theme image sizes, or confirming whether a custom size exists for a particular attachment.

  • WordPress can register many image sizes, but registration alone does not mean every attachment has a physical file for each one. An image may have been uploaded before a theme registered a new size, thumbnail generation may have been disabled, or metadata regeneration may have failed.
  • Image Sizes Panel focuses on the result rather than the configuration. It walks the currently registered image-size names, asks WordPress for the corresponding attachment image source, removes missing or duplicate URLs, and then adds the full image when appropriate. This gives administrators a practical view of what WordPress can actually return for that attachment.

Inspect Sizes From the Attachment Screen

  • The attachment edit screen receives an Available Image Sizes panel showing the generated label, dimensions, and URL for each detected size. This is useful when a developer is troubleshooting a specific image or when a content team needs the URL of a particular generated file.
  • Access follows normal WordPress media permissions: the user needs upload capability and permission to edit the attachment. Non-image media is left out because the panel is specifically designed around WordPress image derivatives.

Use the Media Library List for Faster Checks

  • On sites where administrators work primarily in Media Library list mode, WP PowerSuite adds an Image Sizes row action. Selecting it opens the generated-size information without requiring a full attachment edit screen.
  • Grid mode does not receive this row action, keeping the implementation focused on interfaces where WordPress provides conventional per-item actions. The module itself does not add a new custom library browser or alter Media Library pagination.

Understand the Difference Between Registered and Generated Sizes

Custom Image Sizes can register new dimensions, while Disable Thumbnail Generation can suppress selected size files during upload. Image Sizes Panel shows the resulting files that are actually available for the attachment.
This makes the panel useful when several media modules are working together. If a size name exists in configuration but does not appear for an old image, the attachment may simply predate that registration or regeneration may be required.
Regenerate Thumbnails can walk existing attachments and rebuild metadata using the image sizes that are currently allowed, after which Image Sizes Panel can be used to confirm the result.

A Diagnostic Tool, Not an Image Generator

  • Image Sizes Panel intentionally does not create files, change dimensions, resize attachments, or modify WordPress media settings. Its role is visibility.
  • Keeping inspection separate from generation reduces the chance that someone opens an attachment merely to check its sizes and accidentally triggers filesystem changes. When action is required, WP PowerSuite links you toward the appropriate regeneration workflow instead.
