Download Media Library

Package your media library into downloadable ZIP files—the entire library, specific months, or folders (when Media Categories is enabled). ZIPs auto-expire after 24 hours.

Overview

Download Media Library lets you package WordPress uploads into downloadable ZIP archives directly from wp-admin.

Export the complete uploads directory, choose one or several year/month folders, or download media associated with a supported media-folder taxonomy. WP PowerSuite builds protected temporary ZIP files, gives administrators a controlled download interface, and removes old generated archives automatically after 24 hours.

Download Media Library is a Pro module in WP PowerSuite and requires PHP ZipArchive.

Use Media Exports Alongside Storage and Backup Tools

Download Media Library is useful for portable copies of uploads, while Storage Monitor helps you understand how much tracked storage is being consumed by uploads, plugins, themes, and the database before starting an export.
For complete recovery, including the WordPress database and site files beyond uploads, use Backup & Restore instead. Download Media Library intentionally focuses on media exports rather than presenting itself as a complete disaster-recovery backup.
This distinction lets you choose the right tool for the job: a lightweight media ZIP when you need files, or a full backup workflow when you need to restore the website.

Use Cases

  • Client Handover
Provide a client with a downloadable archive of their WordPress uploads without giving them FTP access.
  • Website Migration
Export Media Library files before moving content to another server or environment.
  • Monthly Archives
Download selected months of uploads instead of building one very large ZIP.
  • Media Folder Export
Package attachments belonging to a specific organized media folder when that integration is available.
  • Offline Media Review
Create a temporary ZIP for designers, editors, or archive teams to review outside WordPress.
