Hide Update Notifications

Quieter update nags in the admin for teams that patch on their own schedule.

Overview

Hide Update Notifications removes update-related notices and badges from the admin. Choose which to hide: plugin updates, theme updates, WordPress core updates, or the PHP update required notice. Hiding updates does not prevent updates from running—it only hides the notifications and badges. Useful for client sites where you manage updates yourself, or for staging environments where you don’t want users seeing update prompts. Each type can be toggled independently.

Who is this for?
Site owners who manage updates themselves and don't want users seeing update notifications, or those running staging sites where update prompts are distracting.

Features

Hide Plugin Updates
Removes plugin update notifications, menu badges, and update counts from the admin. Plugins page shows no update prompts.
Hide Theme Updates
Removes theme update notifications, menu badges, and update counts from the admin. Appearance → Themes shows no update prompts.
Hide Core Updates
Removes WordPress core update notifications and maintenance mode warnings. Dashboard and menu no longer show core update badges.
Hide PHP Update Notice
Removes the PHP update required notice from admin pages and site health checks. Use with caution—PHP updates are often important for security.

How It Works

1
Enable the Module
Go to WP PowerSuite, find "Hide Update Notifications," and click the Enable button.
2
Configure Settings
Open the module settings. Check which notifications to hide: plugin, theme, core, or PHP update notice.
3
Save
Settings save automatically. The selected notifications are hidden from the admin.
Performance Note
Lightweight. Uses WordPress transients filters and removes admin notice actions. No extra database queries. CSS hides badges where needed.
